About the tides at Akreavenek Island

Akreavenek Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The range is large, about 2.98 m on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most Nunavut stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 4.34 m. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 1.51 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1974. The nearest other station is Chesterfield Inlet, 9.8 km away. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
