About the tides at Alligator Point

Alligator Point has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Galveston Pier 21, Galveston Channel. The mean range is small, about 0.7 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Texas stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 26, with a range of 1.2 ft. Neap tides follow on October 23, when the range shrinks to 0.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.3 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −0.8 ft on January 21.

Alligator Point is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Galveston Pier 21, Galveston Channel: highs come about 159 min and lows about 153 min later than there.
