About the tides at Anchor Point

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Anchor Point, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 13.5 ft on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 16.0 ft. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 19.6 ft. Neap tides follow on October 17, when the range shrinks to 6.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 19.2 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −4.1 ft on December 24.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 2005 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Papke's Landing, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Anchor Point.
