About the tides at Bandon

Bandon has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Coos Bay. With a mean range of about 5.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.1 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 8.8 ft on December 24 and bottom out at −2.3 ft on July 5.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Charleston, Coos Bay, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1916 to 1977 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Rink Creek Entrance, 12 mi away, where high tide comes about 2 h 26 m later.
