About the tides at Sitka Dock

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 1.2 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston. The range is large, about 5.8 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.7 ft. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 9.0 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 3.4 ft.

Sitka Dock is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Charleston: highs come about 7 min and lows about 8 min later than there.
