About the tides at Beach Channel (bridge)
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Beach Channel Cross B. Bridge, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The range is large, about 5.4 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is larger than most New York stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.0 ft. The next spring tides peak on Tuesday, with a range of 7.2 ft. Neap tides follow today, when the range shrinks to 4.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.2 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.2 ft on January 23.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here in 2015 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is J.F.K. International Airport, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 9 min later. For tidal currents, see Beach Channel (bridge).
