About the tides at Beacon

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The average range is about 3.1 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 3.7 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 4.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 2.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.5 ft on November 25, and the lowest is −0.5 ft on September 2.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here in 2014 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Newburgh, 1 mi away, where high tide comes about 11 min later. For tidal currents, see Newburgh Beacon Bridge.
