About the tides at Black Berry Island

Tides at Black Berry Island are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The mean range is small, about 0.18 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Nunavut stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Tuesday, with a range of 0.27 m. Neap tides follow on October 13, when the range shrinks to 0.11 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is Austin Bay, 33 km away, where high tide comes about 1 h 4 m later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.

Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
