About the tides at Broomes Island
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Baltimore, Fort McHenry, Patapsco River. Water here rises and falls only about 1.2 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.2 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 1.0 ft, on Thursday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.5 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −0.9 ft on January 22.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Baltimore, Fort McHenry, Patapsco River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Long Beach, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 28 min later. For tidal currents, see Broomes Island, 0.4 mile south of.
Predictions are based on Baltimore, Fort McHenry, Patapsco River.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
