About the tides at Cainhoy
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The range is large, about 6.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 6.6 ft. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 7.1 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 6.0 ft.
This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1976 to 1998 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Parker Island, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Anneville, marker 36.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
