About the tides at Cape Chunak
This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. With a mean range of about 5.1 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 7.6 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 5.1 ft, on October 21. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 9.1 ft on November 29 and bottom out at −2.3 ft on July 4.
