About the tides at Cape Dalhousie

Cape Dalhousie has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The mean range is small, about 0.45 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is larger than most Northwest Territories stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Tuesday, with a range of 0.62 m. Neap tides follow on October 19, when the range shrinks to 0.26 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1972. The nearest other station is Baillie Is. (South Spit), 56 km away, where high tide comes about 1 h 51 m later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
