About the tides at Cape d'Or

Cape d'Or has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. Cape d'Or sees a mean range of about 8.63 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Nova Scotia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 10.54 m, comes today, and the smallest, 7.59 m, on Monday.

Predictions for Cape d'Or come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. The nearest other station is Advocate, 4.6 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
