About the tides at Capers Island
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 6.1 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 8.4 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 4.6 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 8.3 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.7 ft on January 23.
Capers Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 1 min and lows about 18 min earlier than there. The nearest other station is Station Creek, west end, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later. For tidal currents, see Bay Point Island, S of, Broad River entrance.
Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
