About the tides at Champlain

Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.18 m, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The mean range is small, about 0.42 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak tomorrow, with a range of 0.61 m. Neap tides follow on October 12, when the range shrinks to 0.43 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1961. The nearest other station is Bécancour, 5.4 km away, where high tide comes about 6 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
