About the tides at Champney Island
Champney Island has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. The range is large, about 5.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. That is smaller than most Georgia stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.8 ft on October 27, and the lowest is −1.4 ft on January 23.
Champney Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Fort Pulaski, Savannah River: highs come about 70 min and lows about 153 min later than there. The nearest other station is Darien, 3 mi away. For tidal currents, see Broughton Island (south).
Predictions are based on Fort Pulaski, Savannah River.
