About the tides at Mackay River (ICWW)

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.7 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River. With a mean range of about 6.9 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 7.4 ft. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 8.9 ft on October 27 and bottom out at −2.0 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Fort Pulaski, Savannah River, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1980 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Frederica River, 4 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min earlier.
