About the tides at Delaware City Branch Channel bridge

Delaware City Branch Channel bridge has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Reedy Point, C&d Canal. With a mean range of about 5.2 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 6.3 ft, comes on October 27, and the smallest, 4.8 ft, tomorrow. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.8 ft on August 3 and bottom out at −0.7 ft on January 24.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Reedy Point, C&d Canal, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here in 1983 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Delaware City, 0.8 mi away, where high tide comes about 10 min later.
