About the tides at Dog Island
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.3 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. Water here rises and falls only about 1.7 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.4 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 3.7 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 1.3 ft, today. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 3.1 ft on July 4 and bottom out at −1.5 ft on December 24.
Predictions for Dog Island come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Lanark, 5 mi away.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
