About the tides at East Key
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.0 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at Miami Beach, Government Cut. The mean range is small, about 0.5 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 0.7 ft on September 29, and the lowest is −0.1 ft on January 22.
East Key is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Miami Beach, Government Cut: highs come about 163 min and lows about 246 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1975 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Snake Creek, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 35 m earlier.
Predictions are based on Miami Beach, Government Cut.
