About the tides at Empire Jetty

Tides at Pelican Island are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at Grand Isle, East Point. Water here rises and falls only about 1.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.7 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 0.3 ft, on October 22. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.3 ft on October 29 and bottom out at −1.3 ft on January 20.
