About the tides at Jack Bay
Tides at Mississippi Delta are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The pattern follows the reference station at South Pass. The mean range is small, about 1.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 2.3 ft. Neap tides follow on Friday, when the range shrinks to 0.3 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 2.2 ft on October 30, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 20.
Jack Bay is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting South Pass: highs come about 192 min and lows about 168 min later than there. The nearest other station is Grand Bay, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 44 min earlier.
Predictions are based on South Pass.
