About the tides at Finch Cove

Finch Cove has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Adak Island, Sweeper Cove. The average range is about 2.4 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Thursday, with a range of 3.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 23, when the range shrinks to 1.4 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 4.9 ft on December 23, and the lowest is −1.6 ft on June 6.

Finch Cove is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Adak Island, Sweeper Cove: highs come about 60 min earlier and lows about 7 min later than there.
