About the tides at Fort Albany
Fort Albany has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. With a mean range of about 1.76 m, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.37 m, comes today, and the smallest, 1.51 m, on October 7.
Predictions for Fort Albany come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1956. The nearest other station is Sand Head, 126 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
