About the tides at Fort Johnson
Fort Johnson has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Charleston, Cooper River Entrance. The average range is about 4.8 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 6.1 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 3.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 6.7 ft on October 1, and the lowest is −1.5 ft on January 23.
