About the tides at Fort McHenry Marsh

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. Water here rises and falls only about 1.1 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.7 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.9 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.9 ft, on October 31. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.2 ft on July 3 and bottom out at −0.6 ft on January 22.
