About the tides at Golden Meadow

Tides at Plaisance Canal are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The mean range is small, about 0.6 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Louisiana stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 13, with a range of 0.7 ft. Neap tides follow on October 8, when the range shrinks to 0.1 ft.

This is a prediction station. NOAA calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. NOAA measured the tide here from 1986 to 1987 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Bayou Faleau, 8 mi away, where high tide comes about 45 min later.
