About the tides at Greenwich Pier
Greenwich Pier has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The pattern follows the reference station at Reedy Point, C&d Canal. With a mean range of about 5.0 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 6.6 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −0.8 ft on January 24.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Reedy Point, C&d Canal, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1979 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Raccoon Ditch, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 1 h 50 m later. For tidal currents, see Cohansey River, 0.5 mile above entrance.
Predictions are based on Reedy Point, C&d Canal.
