About the tides at Hatteras

Hatteras has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The mean range is small, about 0.3 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most North Carolina stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 10, with a range of 0.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Monday, when the range shrinks to 0.3 ft.
