About the tides at Higganum Creek
Tides here are mixed. On average the two daily highs differ by 0.5 ft, so check which low is the lower one before you head out. The pattern follows the reference station at New London, Thames River. The average range is about 2.4 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Connecticut stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 2.7 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 3.3 ft on July 4, and the lowest is −0.6 ft on January 23.
Higganum Creek is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting New London, Thames River: highs come about 188 min and lows about 220 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here in 1987 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Maromas, 3 mi away, where high tide comes about 17 min later. For tidal currents, see Higganum Creek, 0.5 mile Ese of.
Predictions are based on New London, Thames River.
