About the tides at Hunters Point
Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery). On a typical day the water moves about 4.0 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.3 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 2.5 ft, on October 20. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.5 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.2 ft on January 23.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is East 41st Street, 0.6 mi away, where high tide comes about 19 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Manhattan, off 31st Street.
Predictions are based on NEW YORK (The Battery).
