About the tides at Wallabout Bay

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.5 ft. The pattern follows the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery). On a typical day the water moves about 4.1 ft between high and low. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.6 ft, comes on Saturday, and the smallest, 2.7 ft, on October 18. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 5.8 ft on August 2 and bottom out at −1.4 ft on January 23.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at NEW YORK (The Battery), with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1979 to 1981 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is Williamsburg Bridge, 0.5 mi away, where high tide comes about 15 min later.
