About the tides at Iqaluit

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Iqaluit, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 7.08 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Nunavut stations on this site.

Iqaluit is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1958. The nearest other station is Lewis Bay, 25 km away, where high tide comes about 11 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
