About the tides at Kamalo Harbor
Kamalo Harbor has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Honolulu. Water here rises and falls only about 1.3 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.2 ft, comes on Sunday, and the smallest, 1.4 ft, on October 16. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.8 ft on July 3 and bottom out at −0.4 ft on January 20.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Honolulu, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Pukoo Harbor, 5 mi away, where high tide comes about 26 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Kalohi Channel.
Predictions are based on Honolulu.
