About the tides at L'Étang-du-Nord

Tides at L'Étang-du-Nord are mostly diurnal: one rise and one fall a day, with a slow change between them. The mean range is small, about 0.43 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 30, with a range of 0.80 m. Neap tides follow on Saturday, when the range shrinks to 0.11 m.

This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1983. The nearest other station is Cap-aux-Meules, 7.7 km away, where high tide comes about 2 h 45 m earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
