About the tides at Cap-aux-Meules

Cap-aux-Meules has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. The mean range is small, about 0.44 m, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak today, with a range of 0.79 m. Neap tides follow on October 9, when the range shrinks to 0.51 m.

Cap-aux-Meules is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1921. The nearest other station is Havre-aux-Maisons, 3.4 km away, where high tide comes about 1 h 39 m later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
