About the tides at Little Torch Key
Little Torch Key has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Key West. The mean range is small, about 1.1 ft, so wind and pressure can matter as much as the tide itself. That is smaller than most Florida stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on Sunday, with a range of 1.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Wednesday, when the range shrinks to 0.9 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 1.7 ft on October 28, and the lowest is −0.2 ft on January 21.
Little Torch Key is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Key West: highs come about 15 min earlier and lows about 57 min later than there. The nearest other station is Little Torch Key, Pine Channel Bridge, south side, 0.1 mi away. For tidal currents, see Loggerhead Key, East of.
Predictions are based on Key West.
