About the tides at Long Island
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Long Island, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The tide range here is very large, about 5.49 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most New Brunswick stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 28, with a range of 7.67 m. Neap tides follow on Wednesday, when the range shrinks to 4.30 m.
This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. The nearest other station is McMaster Island, 11 km away, where high tide comes about 12 min earlier. For tidal currents, see Robbinston, St. Croix River. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
