About the tides at Macleod Harbor

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The pattern follows the reference station at Cordova. With a mean range of about 8.9 ft, the shoreline here changes a lot between high and low water. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 11.2 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 13.8 ft, comes on October 11, and the smallest, 6.6 ft, on Friday.

Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Cordova, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. NOAA measured the tide here from 1978 to 2000 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is 5 miles NE of Point Brazil, 12 mi away, where high tide comes about 16 min earlier.
