About the tides at Matagorda Bay Entrance Channel

Matagorda Bay Entrance Channel has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. Water here rises and falls only about 1.1 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 2.0 ft, comes on October 28, and the smallest, 0.3 ft, on Friday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.1 ft on October 3 and bottom out at −1.0 ft on January 20.
