About the tides at Mill Basin
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Brooklyn, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Sandy Hook. The range is large, about 5.0 ft on average. Flats and bars appear and vanish quickly, so keep an eye on the time. The next spring tides peak on October 25, with a range of 6.5 ft. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 3.5 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 7.1 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.5 ft on January 23.
Mill Basin is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Sandy Hook: highs come about 28 min and lows about 4 min later than there.
