About the tides at Moosonee
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Moosonee, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The average range is about 1.27 m. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. That is smaller than most Ontario stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 13, with a range of 1.74 m. Neap tides follow on Sunday, when the range shrinks to 1.33 m.
This is a prediction station. CHS calculates its tides from past measurements at this spot, but there is no live gauge today. It was established in 1960. The nearest other station is Nicholson Creek, 5.0 km away, where high tide comes about 8 min earlier. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
Tide predictions and water levels from the Canadian Hydrographic Service. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
