About the tides at Mop Point
Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Thorne Arm, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. The pattern follows the reference station at Ketchikan. Mop Point sees a mean range of about 12.5 ft. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Alaska stations on this site.
Tides here are worked out from the reference station at Ketchikan, with NOAA time and height corrections. Times are good for planning, but local wind can shift them. The nearest other station is Alva Bay, 11 mi away.
Predictions are based on Ketchikan.
Tide predictions and water levels from NOAA CO-OPS. For planning only, not for navigation. Real water levels can differ because of wind, air pressure and river flow. Always check conditions on site.
