About the tides at Nome

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.1 ft. Water here rises and falls only about 1.0 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most Alaska stations on this site. From the average lower low to the average higher high, the difference is 1.5 ft. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.4 ft, comes on Wednesday, and the smallest, 1.0 ft, on Sunday. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 2.1 ft on July 11 and bottom out at −0.5 ft on May 10.
