About the tides at Nummy Island
Nummy Island has a mixed tide. The two daily highs, and especially the two lows, can differ a lot in height. The pattern follows the reference station at Atlantic City (Ocean). The average range is about 3.9 ft. Spring tides add a little more at both ends. The next spring tides peak on Saturday, with a range of 5.0 ft. Neap tides follow on October 18, when the range shrinks to 2.8 ft. In the next 12 months the highest predicted tide here is 5.7 ft on August 2, and the lowest is −1.1 ft on January 23.
Nummy Island is a subordinate station. NOAA predicts its tides by adjusting Atlantic City (Ocean): highs come about 32 min and lows about 45 min later than there. NOAA measured the tide here from 1977 to 1978 to set up these predictions. The nearest other station is West Wildwood, 2 mi away, where high tide comes about 25 min later.
