About the tides at Oyster Creek

Expect two roughly equal high tides a day at Croatan Sound, each arriving about 50 minutes later than the day before. Water here rises and falls only about 0.4 ft on an average day. A strong onshore wind can push levels above the prediction. That is smaller than most North Carolina stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 0.3 ft, comes on Thursday, and the smallest, 0.3 ft, on October 22. Looking a year ahead, predictions peak at 0.7 ft on September 30 and bottom out at −0.1 ft on January 23.
