About the tides at Penny Lane
Penny Lane has a semidiurnal tide: two highs and two lows of similar height each day, about 12 hours and 25 minutes apart. On a typical day the water moves about 0.69 m between high and low. That is smaller than most Nova Scotia stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 1.05 m, comes on October 12, and the smallest, 0.71 m, on Monday.
Predictions for Penny Lane come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 2018. The nearest other station is Black Rock Point, 0.9 km away, where high tide comes about 39 min later. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
