About the tides at Pointe-aux-Orignaux

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. Pointe-aux-Orignaux sees a mean range of about 3.63 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Quebec stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 5.34 m, comes today, and the smallest, 2.33 m, on Monday.

Predictions for Pointe-aux-Orignaux come from this station's own tide records. There is no live sensor, so the table shows forecast only. It was established in 1900. The nearest other station is Cap-aux-Oies, 16 km away, where high tide comes about 5 min earlier. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
