About the tides at Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive

This is a mixed-tide station. Some days bring a deep low and a shallow low, and a few days have only one of each. The tide range here is very large, about 3.98 m on average. Water can come in faster than you can walk across flats. Check the time before you go out. That is larger than most Quebec stations on this site. The next spring tides peak on October 27, with a range of 6.14 m. Neap tides follow on Tuesday, when the range shrinks to 2.13 m.

Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1967. The nearest other station is Saint-Bernard-sur-Mer, 3.7 km away, where high tide comes about 10 min later. Canadian tide heights use chart datum, a level set low on purpose. Negative heights are uncommon.
