About the tides at Portneuf

Tides here follow a regular twice-daily rhythm. The two daily highs usually differ by only 0.46 m. Portneuf sees a mean range of about 3.49 m. Low tide can expose a wide area, and the return is fast. That is larger than most Quebec stations on this site. Over the next two weeks the biggest daily range, 4.09 m, comes today, and the smallest, 3.44 m, tomorrow.

Portneuf is a CHS station with a live water level gauge. Predictions come from the station's own tidal analysis. It was established in 1960. The nearest other station is Pointe Platon, 2.6 km away. Heights are measured from chart datum, which in most Canadian tidal waters is set near the lowest normal tide. That is why lows here rarely go below zero.
